"THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER"

Intermediate and advanced choral techniques are taught in this course, such as learning to sing with expression and technical accuracy while demonstrating well-developed ensemble skills on a large and varied repertoire of vocal literature, singing three & four part music both with accompaniment and without, and the practice of reading music via scale work and sight singing.  As students learn these skills they will grow in their understanding of music in relation to history and culture, practice analyzing and describing music while evaluating music performances.  Students will be given the opportunity to sing music suited to their abilities and interests while also learning choreography for some music. Homework will consist of practicing music weekly at home using the choir’s blog and memorizing songs for performances. Students in 7th& 8th grade will receive a binder for music used throughout the year.  All music needs to be returned to the choir teacher after performances. This group will perform multiple times throughout the year with one major production at the end of the year. **Performances and extra rehearsals are required.**
